Carlos Bronzatto, Executive Director, WAIPA

A Brazilian / Italian National, Carlos Bronzatto obtained a law degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil. After internships and trainee positions, he began corporate law practice in Sao Paulo, at Demarest & Almeida, in 1994, then Brazil's second largest law international firm. He was involved in large Mergers & Acquisitions, Privatisations and Eurobond Issues out of Brazil. Late 1995, he joined Banco Multiplic SA an investment bank, in Sao Paulo, half-owned by the Lloyds Bank of London. His experience in banking included assisting in the structuring of Trade and Corporate Finance transactions of local (Brazilian based) companies.

In 1998 Mr. Bronzatto joined Chadbourne & Parke – a large New York law firm – as a foreign associate. He obtained a Master's Degree in 2000 in "Banking, Corporate and Finance Law" from Fordham University School of Law, in New York City. After his masters, he then joined Shearman & Sterling, a top 10 U.S./Global Law Firm. He was part of the Latin American team of Shearman's Corporate Finance division. He serviced Spanish-speaking Latin American as well as Brazilian issuers of stocks (equity) and bonds (debt).
As Executive Director of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies - WAIPA, Carlos Bronzatto advises governments in their investment promotion framework . He is also responsible for the content of WAIPA Conferences, Training and Other Initiatives. He has been based in Geneva, Switzerland since 2008.
