Fernando Faria | Founder

Fernando was born and bred in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During his years in Brazil, he has always been interested in public affairs and how it impacts the business environment in his home country. Fernando graduated in Marketing in 1998 with a dissertation focused on Brazil's influence in regional economic blocs, specifically NAFTA, FTAA & Mercosul and has since followed the country's emergence as one of the world's largest emerging markets with strong interest.

After working for different companies in finance and telecoms in Brazil, Fernando decided to pursue an international career in 2007 when he relocated to Boston, MA, USA to join Pyramid Research, a boutique consulting firm, where he spent 3 years covering technology trends in Latin America and Europe.

In 2009 Fernando moved to London to take the role of Marketing Director at the GSM Association, the global trade organisation for the mobile industry, where he is the overall responsible for the conference programme of Mobile World Congress, the largest event in the world of technology and mobile with 73,000 delegates annually in Barcelona, Spain.

Fernando's motivation behind innovaBRICS & Beyond is to create a global forum where leaders from different backgrounds will discuss the impact of emerging markets in the future of our world and how innovation, if properly encouraged, could be the answer for many of the challenges of the next decades.
